NBTA

HOW NBTA ENGLAND BEGAN

In 1945, NBTA International was created by Don Sartell and over the years NBTA organisations were formed across Europe.  NBTA England was originally started by three men, one of which was David Creeden, who got together at the end of 1982. Competitions took place in 1983, with the first National Championships taking place at Exeter University.

In 1984, NBTA held its National Championships at Torbay Leisure Centre, during the October half-term holiday and this continued for 40yrs until NBTA’s final championships in 2024.

NBTA England was a founder member of NBTA Europe, along with France, Italy, Spain & Switzerland and in 1984 hosted the very first NBTA Europe Championships in Torbay.

There have been 10 NBTA England chairpersons throughout the years, with the final one being Anita Stanforth.
